What is definition of postural kyphosis?

Postural kyphosis, or "round back", is the result of poor posture. This condition is most common in adolescents and young adults, as they often slouch when standing and sitting, causing the spine to curve forward

The postural kyphosis can be corrected?

A postural kyphosis corrects itself when lying down on a flat surface, or when the spine is hyper-extended[4]. On X-rays, there will not be any vertebral abnormalities, because structural damage or deformity does not cause this kyphosis.

What symptoms in juvenile must be noticed?

Sometimes kyphosis does not cause any symptoms other than the back appearing abnormally curved. However, in some cases the condition causes back pain and stiffness, tenderness of the spine and tiredness

Treatments of postural kyphosis in juvenile:

The First step, In fact, postural kyphosis is rather easily corrected with education about proper posture and some retraining on how to sit and stand correctly.

The second step,  is keeping a good posture i.e., a straight back, squared shoulders, chin up, chest out, stomach in, like picture below

The third step, in improving your posture by doing exercises as follow:

  1. During upright standing retract shoulders and keep this position for a while, then release the contraction. Perform this exercise alternately several times a day.
  2. Sleep prone position and try to lifting head and chest from the ground up
  3. Pull-ups and swimming exercise is beneficial

 

Sometime using clavicle bandage or clavicle brace as a kinesthetic reminder and can help with proper posture. Clavicle brace prevents slouching and help to correct poor posture by pulling shoulders back into a proper position.
