A cervical collar, also known as a neck brace, is a medical device used to support a person's neck. Cervical collars are also used therapeutically to help stabilize the cervical column and relieve pain. Hard collars are most commonly prescribed for cervical spine stabilization following either trauma, surgery, or fractures/dislocations[2]. Rigid braces are made from molded plastic with a removable padded liner in two pieces—a front and back piece—fastened with Velcro.

Indications

  • Recommended where a rigid immobilization of the cervical region is required.

  • They support the chin and the occiput, this reduces the extension/flexion possibilities, especially in the end phase[4]

Note

  • During activity, Keep your computer monitor at eye level. Place documents you are reading into a holder at eye level.
